Chloramine/Hydrogen Sulfide ReductionChloramine is commonly and increasingly used as an alternative disinfectant to chlorination in municipal water systems. High volume chloraminated water discharges is toxic to fish, amphibians, and water-based reptiles. Although the human health effects of chloramines have not been studied, some people have experienced negative symptoms such as burning skin, red rashes, itching, dry mouth and throat, digestive problems, wheezing, and severe asthma. In regards to the hydrogen sulfide, although water containing hydrogen sulfide does not pose a health risk, it gives water an unpleasant “rotten egg” smell and taste. The point-of-use FI-CHLORAMINE water filters utilize advanced catalytic granular activated carbon which effectively remove chloramine and hydrogen sulfide from the water. Catalytic carbon retains all of the adsorptive properties of activated carbon, but it also has the unique ability to promote or catalyze chemical reactions. First, it adsorbs contaminants such as sulfides onto the surface of the carbon particles. Then, in the presence of dissolved oxygen, it oxidizes the sulfides and converts them to non-objectionable compounds. This conversion process makes calytic activated carbon the most effective media available for the removal of chloramines and hydrogen sulfide from water supplies. The FI-CHLORAMINE filter can treat up to 1,500 gallons of water. The filter is recommended to be installed before the reverse osmosis system. Removes/Reduces

"I have been using the APEC filters since year 2015. In year 2016 my filters started getting clogged up very fast. Every one to two weeks I had to change. I called the customer service and found out that New York City changed their water sterilization process and started using Chloramine in stead of Clorine. This was clogging up the filters. So I changed to the Chloramine filters and they work well. Two of those filters need to be replace every 3 - 6 months depending on the use."
"With warm Florida water bacteria is even more of a risk. The high chloramine content in our city water shortens the life of the membrane. I use this filter in the 2nd position to significantly reduce the chloramines going into the membrane. Started using RO systems in the printing industry 25 years ago. There is no better way to go. They do need to add a bottom threaded drain to the filter holders to drain off some of the water to facilitate filter changes in tight places. It takes more time to clean up the spilled water than it does to change the filters!"
