"Our private well water will occasionally contain small amounts of sand and other sediments which collect in the toilet tanks etc. We installed this filter upstream of a softener and RO drinking water unit to extend the life of those systems. It does a good job removing the sediments and keeping them from the rest of our house."
Great addition to Iron Filter
"Pre-story: I purchased the 20 BB Iron Filter from APEC when we built our new house about 2 years ago. Our water tested extremely hard (mostly iron and some sulfur) so we opted to install the iron filter in front of our water softener. The iron filter usually lasts about 9 months before it is TOTALLY full of rust. It still amazes me how much rust is pulled out. Ok so now we put the 20 BB Sediment Filter in front of the iron filter. We can now go about 12 month before iron filter needs changed because the sediment filter picks up the larger particles before they get to the iron filter. I like the sediment filter because it's washable and re-usable. I looked at these filters these as an investment: less cleaning toilets and showers less wear and tear on all appliances and less build up inside plumbing. Also better quality drinking water. I highly recommend!"
