The IL-200 Series Water Filters have been saving American's hundreds of dollars a year in refrigerator water filter expenses for the past two decades and is a sister product to the our CuZn UC-200 Under Sink Water Filter that is the most popular under sink water filter in the United States for 2 decades running.

Fridge manufacturers are trying to force consumers to purchase absurdly overpriced "built-in" fridge water filter cartridges every 6 months, the worst part is the "built in" filters are low quality and intentionally designed to fail in a very short period of time. CuZn's IL-200 Series inline refrigerator filters are compatible with any make or model fridge, featuring industry leading performance, legendary lifetime warranty support and provide better filtration at a significantly lower cost.

The IL-200 Series water filters will reduce a wide variety of organic and inorganic contaminants including but not limited to: chlorine, chloramine, water soluble cation heavy metals (lead, mercury, chromium VI, cadmium, etc.), herbicides, pesticides, sediment, algae, molds, bad taste, odors and other undesirable contaminants that may effect the quality of your water supply.

The IL-200 purifies the water selectively, allowing beneficial mineral content to remain. Hardness Minerals (calcium & magnesium) will pass through the IL-200, the IL-200 Series KDF Filter Media stage may reduce hard scale formation but will not eliminate it entirely. Calcium & magnesium are health beneficials minerals to ingest and give the water a nice flavor profile when present at low to moderate levels, the IL-200 Series purification method that allows the Hardness Minerals to remain in the filtered water is one of the reasons why it is a popular choice.

The average level of Hardness Minerals (calcium & magnesium) in city water systems in the USA is only 5 grains per gallon, which is a low to moderate level of Hardness Minerals that is ideal for health and drinking water flavor profile, making a UC-200 series type water filter an ideal choice for folks the vast majority of city water supplies in average Hardness Mineral levels range.

However, there are still some city water supplies that that contain excessively high level of total hardness (calcium and magnesium). The level of total hardness (calcium & magnesium) is used to determine if your water is "soft water" or "hard water", water that contains excessive or extreme concentrations of total hardness is referred to as "hard water".

While it is perfectly healthy to drink water that contains excessively high concentrations of total hardness (calcium and magnesium) that is considered "hard" water, way too high a concentration of Hardness Minerals can cause some minor aesthetic issues. For example, if your water contains excessively high hardness minerals and is considered "hard", you'll experience "hard" water mineral residue build up symptoms (white/tan/light-colored mineral residue on glasses, tea kettles, sink spouts, etc) and perhaps an overly "minerally" flavor profile. How To Identify if Your Water Is Treated w/ Chlorine or Chloramine

• DIY research and review your local water quality report
• If you prefer to research yourself, visit the website of your local water department / municipal water provider and review their "Annual Water Quality Report" test data (also called Consumer Confidence Report in some cases).
• When the alternative Chloramine Disinfectant is used instead of the traditional Chlorine, they’ll list the Disinfectant on the report as “Chloramines”, “MonoChloramine”, “Total Chlorine” or “Combined Chlorine”. If you can’t find the information regarding whether Chlorine or Chloramine is added to the water as a disinfectant, you can give the Municipal Plant a call to confirm.
