The three (3) 4.5"X 20 Inch BB specialty filters can effectively treat a variety of water concerns. The 1st stage Sediment filter captures and traps dirt, sand, silt, scale and rust particles down to 30 microns. This durable, polyester filter has a pleated design to maximize dirt-holding capacity and is washable and reusable. The 2nd stage Iron filter utilizes high purity manganese dioxide to effectively reduce iron, iron staining and the metallic taste in your water by converting soluble ferrous iron into insoluble ferric iron. The 3rd stage Carbon filter is a radial flow granular activated carbon (GAC) cartridge that adsorbs the insoluble ferric iron to effectively treat iron. Lastly, chlorine, odors, taste and organic compounds are removed by the carbon filter to provide chemical-free water to every faucet and water outlet.

"I purchased these replacement filters for my system that was installed 2 years ago. This sets works very well for the area I live in. We have extremely hard water that will leave mineral rings with any amount of water that is left on the counter or in the sinks. These filters remove nearly all the mineral deposit problems."
"My home has a deep well with a lot of iron. When I bought the home there was a small filter that removed most of the suspended iron but some got through and discolored the sink and toilet. The water also had a sulfur smell. I installed the filter system about 5 years ago and it has solved the discoloration and sulfur smell. I would give 5 stars if there was a drain values at the bottom of the Big Blue filter housing so when changing the filters I didn’t have to deal with the mess and weight of the filter housing filled with water."
"When I built a new house 13 months ago I specified the APEC CB3-SED-IRON-CAB20-BB system for our house. Oh the poor plumber resisted because he had to purchase it from Lowes since his plumbing company did not carry it. He did install the system just fine but struggled with the filters and used some silicone caulk to seal them from leaking. Not sure why. I had no trouble removing the filter cases although I did have to clean the silicone residue away from the housing. Once I did this I cleaned the O-rings and lubricated them with some Vaseline. Then I installed the new filters. No leaks...no problems. Don't know why the plumber had made such a big deal out of this. This system works great. My only suggestion: The directions that come with the filters suggest that the O-rings be replaced at the same time. This was not mentioned to me by the customer service rep who took my order. New O-rings should be added to their script."
