ROTL-A1000 Tankless RO System

"We recently replaced an old 5-stage under-sink system with the ROTL-A1000; the system supplies the ice maker in the freezer as well as a tap on the kitchen sink. We had a professional plumber do the installation; no problem. The equipment seems to be of high quality materials, design & construction. Issue: 1) I am more than a little annoyed that the user manual, which we followed to a "T", clearly states to let water run through the new system for 24 hrs; it further states that failure to do so could result in ingestion of toxic substances, or something to that effect. Of course, that means letting it run & waste a LOT of water overnight. The larger insult is that the system has an automatic shutoff after one hour of continuous use, which means resetting it every hour for 24 hrs, through the night?!?! The next day when I called customer service about this, what I got was a chuckle and "oh, you don't have to do that; 30-60 minutes is enough". When told about the explicit warning in the manual, he said something to the effect of "oh, I know, we just haven't gotten around to changing it yet". Thanks a lot; change the dang manual, or at least insert a loose page advising customers of the change. Issue: 2) Our ice with the old 5-stage system was pristine clear & tasty. Not so much with this system; it is cloudy w/ refrigerator taste. All that said, the system has worked well & as advertised for about 3-4 weeks with great output; we are no longer waiting for RO water. The noise level is low and very tolerable. I would definitely recommend, with the caveats mentioned above."

The RO I wish I bought years ago.

"My old RO was by a well known brand and after only having it five years they stopped making the filters for it. So I went to AI and asked what company wouldn’t do that to me again and APEC was what it recommended. In business for years and should support theirs products for years. We use a lot of water with six in the household and having an electric, on demand, no small tank that you have to wait hours to refill, is the best thing ever when it comes to good water. Installation instructions weren’t the best but I also am not the best at following them so there’s that. Overall though we love this thing, well worth the investment and wish we had it years ago."
