Advanced Catalytic Coconut Granular Activated Carbon
The Green Carbon water filter uses the highest grade granular coconut shell based activated carbon to effectively remove a wide range of chemical and organic contaminants from water without the need for regeneration, backwash, or electricity. Designed specifically for whole house filtration, this system uses acid washed high purity granular activated carbon manufactured by steam activation from premium select coconut shell charcoal. When water comes into contact with the surface of the catalytic media, gas, vapor, liquid and dissolved solid contaminants get channeled and trapped in the micropores of the carbon by the process of adsorption. These compounds are subsequently diffused into the carbon matrix and are adsorbed or locked into the internal pore structure removing it from the water. "Bought 6 years ago, great at removing chlorine was municipal water. Kids eczema did so much better without the harmful chemicals in the water. Moved it to our new home on a well to protect us against potential VOCs/pesticides etc. as cheap insurance. All was well until someone broke and contaminated our well. After sanitizing the well, we decided to remove the carbon from the tank, sanitize and re-install with new carbon. We have residual chlorine in our well, but after hooking up the filter with the new granulated carbon, we have zero in the house, keeping or APEC water softener safe! Great purchase and easy to redo the media if needed."

"It seems like a good system overall but there were some problems with this purchase.The main tube feeding into the tank comes with a little black plug that is supposed to cover that tube while the media is poured in but it looked like my plug was missing so I just plugged the tube with a paper towel instead to get the media in.Started having pressure/flow problems after a couple weeks and eventually (after much head scratching and taking the system apart)I discovered that missing black plug had been floating around somehow in the by-pass valve and finally stuck perfectly in the interior of the outlet side of that valve.When you buy the pre-filter for the system the instructions show to put 15 wraps of pipe tape on the threads.If it needs that many wraps of tape then that part is badly engineered and doesn't fit properly.That should be redesigned.I've also found that Apec is lacking at promptly returning phone calls and e- mails.Maybe about half the time not at all."

"I was happy and excited to buy it . My wife though i was crazy spending that much on a filter but we both Love the whole house filter. No more chlorine smell and hair feels really soft and silky. Skin is very clear! Installation was not easy best to get it done by a professional. Defintely worth the price and they will stand behind their warranty. I have a Ro water system from apec also and love the taste of water!"

"I have used well water all my life and when my family moved to a new city water home I started to get red rashes on my skin which was unbearable. After speaking to a doctor and researching on internet I pinpointed the likely cause is due to the disinfectants used in city water. So I ordered the biggest system available from APEC and what a difference it made.
