Our FI-KDF85-10BB filter cartridges have superior taste and odor reduction capabilities. There are two types of media in these types of filters: the KDF media in this cartridge specializes in the reduction of iron and hydrogen sulfide and the activated carbon is effective against chlorine, odor and taste.

KDF Process Media are high-purity copper-zinc granules that reduce contaminants in water using oxidation/reduction (redox) reaction. KDF 85 process medium is an effective iron (ferrous) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) removal agent that may be used alone or to protect existing water filtration/purification technologies in POE treatment of groundwater supplies. This unique, innovative and environmentally responsible media consists of high purity copper-zinc granules that use redox (the exchange of electrons) in patented products to effectively reduce/remove chlorine, iron, hydrogen sulfide, heavy metals, and control microorganisms in potable water without the use of chemicals. What’s more, KDF 85 media is highly efficient and tank size requirements are modest for more economical system engineering and installation.

This is an excellent choice if you are looking for a filter that will reduce a wide range of contaminants, reduce scale buildup and protect against bacteria and algae growth. The KDF media causes cellular damage to microbiological organisms which reduces bacterial growth and protects the activated carbon from fouling to extend the life of the filter.

The FI-KDF85-10BB filter can treat up to 20,000 gallons of water, and will fit in our 10 Inch standard whole house big housings.

Note: Calculated capacities and flow rates are for reference only. Various chemical and physical conditions can significantly alter the provided estimates herein. Filter cartridges should be changed every six to twelve months or when acceptable effluent ceases, whichever occurs first.
